We put forward a new theoretical framework to study the development of mega-city regions and metropolitan areas under the recent national strategy of new-type urbanisation and rural vitalisation.
Guangzhong Cao
Professor Guangzhong Cao is the Head of the Department of Urban and Economic Geography in the College of Urban and Environmental Sciences at Peking University. He is also the Associate Director of the Population Geography Committee and Council Member of the Urban Geography Committee at the Geographical Society of China.
He received his PhD in Peking University in 1998. His focus of research is urban geography and population geography. His recent research interests are urbanization, urban and regional development, migration and urban land use in China, and has published more than 50 papers on these topics.
Professor. Cao is the Principle Investigator of a project supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China: The Interaction and Coevolution between Metropolitan and Non-metropolitan Area Development in Beijing-Tianjin-North Hebei Region.
He is on the manangement board of the PEAK Urban programme and he is the leader of the PEAK project “Mega-city Region and Metropolitan Area Development”.
