Nirmal Roy V P

Nirmal completed his MPhil in Applied Economics from the Centre for Development Studies (CDS), Thiruvananthapuram and PhD from Madras Institute of Development Studies (MIDS), Chennai. His PhD thesis, 'Financialisation of Land and Implications: The Case of Land Markets in Kerala', analysed the changing character of land in the Indian state of Kerala and the participants of land markets in the contours of financialisation of land. He has previously been associated with the Kerala State Planning Board as a Consultant and Research Assistant. 

At IIHS, Nirmal is part of the 'Metropolitan Development and Land Financing' research stream of the PEAK Urban project. His research interests include financialisation, land markets, intermediaries, institutions, rent seeking etc.
